Start of the ICPMN Leadership Academy in Gagauzia!

The first session of the ICPMN Leadership Academy offers young people opportunities for civic engagement and understanding human rights.

Young people from the villages and towns of Gagauzia had the chance to participate in the first module of the ICPMN Leadership Academy, focused on civic activism and human rights. The event began with a presentation of the Center for Civic Initiatives for National Minorities (ICPMN), which provided the participants with an overview of the organization's mission and the crucial role that national minorities play in the political and social life of the country.

The module was led by Mihai Peicov, executive director of ICPMN, who spoke to the participants about the importance of collective action and how every young person can contribute to changing their community. Additionally, Valentina Malenchi, an expert in civic activism and debates from the Community Plus organization, offered an interactive session on civic engagement and the art of debate. She explained how to be an active member of society and how to present and defend one’s views in a reasoned and effective way.

The young participants had the opportunity to engage in practical exercises and debates, learning how to express their ideas and address issues relevant to their communities. Throughout the day, they discovered not only new ways to engage actively but also opportunities to contribute to the social and political development of their region. At the end, the participants exchanged ideas and established new connections, reinforcing their desire to tackle societal challenges through active civic involvement.
